BEGIN ACT 4


FADE IN on QUARK'S BAR.

TASHA walks up to the bar, still dressed in her old uniform and communicator
pin.

QUARK walks up, cleaning a glass.

QUARK: What can I get for you?

TASHA looks off to QUARK'S right with a blank expression on her face for a
moment, thinking. She then looks back at QUARK.

TASHA: I'll have a Chocolate Malt.

QUARK looks at TASHA with curiousity.

TASHA (leaning forward a bit and raising her voice): I SAID a Chocolate
Malt!

QUARK: I've don't remember ever seeing you in here before.

TASHA (losing her patience): I just arrived this morning. (leaning forward
even more and grabbing QUARK by the collar with her right hand) Now, get me
a-

QUARK (panicking): Uh, Chocolate Malt-right!!!

TASHA lets go as QUARK turns around and hurries off.

TASHA stands back up straight while watching QUARK leave.

After a moment, QUARK comes back and puts it on the counter.

QUARK: Your Chocolate Malt.

TASHA looks down at it, picks it up, examines it for a second, then looks
back up at QUARK.

TASHA (nodding curtly): Thank you.

QUARK goes off to another customer, while TASHA turns around, places the
straw in her mouth, and takes a short sip. She likes the taste, so she takes
a LONG sip.

TASHA suddenly hears DAX'S voice.

DAX: TASHA!

TASHA turns in the direction of the voice, wondering who's calling her.

DAX and KIRA are sitting at a table, with DAX on the left and KIRA on the
right. They're smiling.

DAX (motioning with her right hand): Come here!

TASHA walks over to the table.

DAX (motioning at the empty chair): Sit down!

TASHA puts the malt on the table and sits down.

DAX (holding out her right hand): Hi, we haven't officially met. I'm Dax.

TASHA shakes DAX'S hand.

TASHA (smiling): Hi. Tasha Yar.

DAX (still smiling): I know. (lets go of TASHA'S hand) I was there when
Chief O'Brien beamed you onto the Defiant. (looks briefly at KIRA) Um, this
is my friend, Kira.

KIRA (holding out her left hand with a smile): Hi.

TASHA shakes KIRA'S hand.

TASHA (smiling): Hi.

DAX: So, um, how do you like Deep Space Nine?

TASHA: Well, um, I've only been here since this morning, (looking up) but,
from what I've seen, (nodding) it seems like a really great place. (looks
back down at DAX and KIRA)

DAX: We're glad you like it. Have you contacted the Enterprise yet?

TASHA (nodding): Yeah.

DAX (smiling more): How'd they take it?

TASHA smiles and looks up, the expression on her face being that of a person
about to crack up laughing.

TASHA (looking back down at DAX, still smiling): Pretty good. (laughs) I
thought they were gonna FREAK! (laughs more)

DAX and KIRA laugh, too.

After the laughing dies down, KIRA speaks.

KIRA: So, do they have your old things?

TASHA takes a long sip of her Chocolate Malt, then nods.

TASHA: Mmmm, yeah, they kept them. (shaking her head) I had no family except
for my sister, Ishara, so (nodding) yeah, they kept 'em. They're gonna have
my room all ready, back the way it was, by the time I get back to the
Enterprise.

KIRA: When are you leaving?

TASHA: In five hours. That gives me just enough time to see the rest of the
station. I also wanna see this Defiant of yours. (smiling) It sounds
AWESOME.

DAX (smiling and nodding excitedly): It IS!

TASHA then loses her smile and lowers her head a bit.

TASHA: But how am I gonna make up for the last ten years?

TASHA shakes her head and takes a long sip of her Chocolate Malt.

O'BRIEN: Excuse me.

TASHA lets the straw out of her mouth and looks up past DAX and KIRA.

O'BRIEN is standing there.

O'BRIEN: I, um, couldn't help overhearing that you wanted to see the
Defiant?

TASHA (nodding): That's right.

O'BRIEN: Well, I'll be glad to take you down there and show you around.

TASHA smiles, the kind of smile you get when you feel loved, and nods.

TASHA: I'd like that, thanks.

TASHA picks up her Chocolate Malt in her left hand and gets up.

She walks around the table to where O'BRIEN is standing, then turns her head
and waves at KIRA and DAX.

TASHA: (smiling): Bye.

KIRA and DAX both smile and wave.

TASHA turns and follows O'BRIEN to a turbolift. They get in and face
forward.

O'BRIEN: Defiant.

The turbolift takes them down.


Show the OUTSIDE OF THE STATION and the DEFIANT.


Show the TURBOLIFT descending into the room that you can walk into the
DEFIANT from.

When the TURBOLIFT stops, O'BRIEN and TASHA get out.

O'BRIEN leads the way to the DEFIANT. TASHA follows, looking up and around.
